Mrs Barbara A. MacArthur of  Whitehall 

Mrs. MacArthur, age 73, died October 7, 2009. She was born September 25, 1936, in Pentwater, to Lester B. and Vivan A. (Moreen) Marcellus. On July 12, 1958, she married Hugh MacArthur in Scottville. Mrs. MacArthur worked as a secretary for 35 years, last working at Howmet Corp., retiring in 1998. She adored her grandchildren, enjoyed sports and arts & crafts, and liked taking nature walkes. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty.

FAMILY: Her husband, Hugh; 2 sons, Dion MacArthur of Whitehall and Brent (Rashel) MacArthur of Onekama; 1 granddaughter, Cassandra MacArthur; 3 grandsons, Curt (Gretchen) MacArthur, Cameron MacArthur and Jordan MacArthur; a daughter-in-law, Carmella MacArthur of Perth, Australia; a sister, Lois (Mel) Takes of Ludington; a brother, Larry Lents of Pentwater; "adopted" sons, Darren Frazier of WA and Al Bloom of Shelby.

SERVICE: Private services have been held.

Mrs. Arlene J. Manny of Whitehall (widow of Neil) 

Arlene June Manny, died Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Bush Creek Manor in Whitehall, Mi., at the age of 86.

Born Arlene Feeley on August 21, 1923 in Oak Park, IL, to George and Eleanor Feeley of Chicago, she married Neil G. Manny on September 14, 1946. While raising her family in River Forest, IL, she was active in the local Infant Welfare organization. She spent summers at White Lake,  MI,  enjoying her family and many friends at the White Lake Yacht Club and the White Lake Golf Club, moving permanently to White Lake in the early 1980s. She was an avid bridge player and known never to pass up playing a few hands. She is preceded in death by her husband Neil G. Manny and her brother Robert G. Feeley. She is survived by her three children, Neil R. (Skip) (Joan) Manny, Carol Muriello (Dan) and Robert Manny and by her three grandchildren, Shawn Manny (Stephanie), Alyson Martinez, and Christopher Martinez. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Chicago, her favorite city and where she always wanted to return.

Mrs. Mary Jane D. May of Whitehall 

Mary Jane D. May, age 81, of Whitehall, formerly of Livonia, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009. She was born December 19, 1927, in Ontario, Canada, to Honoruis and Ida (Desjarais) Garneau. She was married to Raymond J. May, February 4, 1956, in Ontario, and he preceded her in death. She had worked for the Canteen Co. at Ford Motor Company, retiring in 1988. Mrs. May had been a member of St. Edith Catholic Church in Livonia and more recently, was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gabrielle May.

FAMILY: 3 daughters, Monica & Tim Terry, and their children, Leigh, Scott & Laura, of Grand Haven, Marlene & Mark Rainko, and their son, Mark, of Clinton Township, and Melanie & Darrel Copley, and their children, Rachel, Raymond & Brianna, of Whitehall; 2 brothers, Hector Garneau and Bernard Garneau, both of Canada.

FUNERAL LITURGY: Saturday, November 28, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at St. James Catholic Church, 5179 Dowling St., Montague, with the Rev. Fr. Donn P. Tufts presiding.

VISITING HOURS: Saturday, 10 AM until service time, at the church, in Montague.

Mr. Nicholas J. Mccabe of Whitehall/New Era 

He was loved by many close friends and hated by a few but in his own words "I am a redneck asshole and proud of it!"

Nicholas J. McCabe, age 29, died Saturday, March 27, 2010. He was born April 26, 1980, to Dana and Maureen (Henagin) McCabe. A graduate of Whitehall High School, he had worked for Fred Summerfield Painting & Drywalling for many years. He had started working last year at New Era Canning Co. and was laid off for the winter.

FAMILY: 1 daughter, Sydney McCabe; his mother, Maureen (David) Freeman; his father, Dana McCabe; grandparents, Leonard & Nora Henagin and Earl & Rosemary McCabe; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Nick was preceded in death by his stepfather Bob Petty.

Mrs. Lucille J. Mcpheron of Montague 

Mrs. Lucille McPheron, age 81, died on April 22, 2010. She was born October 16, 1928, in Manton, to Leo and Lulu (Mathews) Burns. A homemaker all her life, Mrs. McPheron had been active in the Women's Bowling Association, March of Dimes and with UNICEF. A daughter, Suzanne Hunt, preceded her in death. 

FAMILY: Her children, Michael (Mary Ann) McPheron, Diana McPheron and Jeffrey (Penny) McPheron, all of Montague, Randall (Renee) McPheron of TN and Jeanne (Mark) Malter of IL; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Monday, April 25, 2010, at 5:00 PM, at White Lake Congregational UCC, 1809 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall, with Rev. Keith Koebel and Rev. Pam Koebel officiating, and Mr. James Tanis as Eulogist.

Mr. Darren B. Mengel of North Muskegon 

Darren B. Mengel, age 43, died January 6, 2010.  He was born June 20, 1966, in Muskegon, to Bernard and Beatrice (Bitson) Mengel. He had worked at Structural Concepts for 14 years, retiring in 2008.

FAMILY: His parents, Bernard & Bea Mengel; 4 brothers, Tim Mengel of AZ, and Terry (Diane) Mengel, Jeff Mengel and Jody Mengel, all of Muskegon.

Mr. Roger  A. Mikkelson "Ticker" of Montague 

Roger A. "Ticker" Mikkelson, age 61, died  January 19, 2010. He was born on July 25, 1948, in Shelby, to Melvin and Emily (Omness) Mikkelson.  A graduate of Montague High School, he had worked at Howmet Corp. for 40 years, retiring in 2005. Roger was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, and a member of White Lake Eagles Aerie #3214.

FAMILY: One brother, Terry (Colleen) Mikkelson of Montague; 1 sister, Caroline Meanley of TX; 1 nephew, Andrew; 4 nieces, Sharon, Trisha, Penny and Nackey.

SERVICE: Monday, January 25, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Clock Chapel-Whitehall, with the Rev. John W. Brooks officiating. Interment will be made in Oakgrove Cemetery-Montague.

Mr. Walter R. Misze  (Husband of Mary Ann) of Whitehall 

Mr. Walter R. Misze, age 84, died Saturday, December 19, 2009. He was born on February 13, 1925, in Fountain, to Phillip and Mary Miszewski. In 1983, he married the former Mary Ann Wisniewski. Mr. Misze was retired owner & operator of Misze Sand Mine in Fruitland Township and was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Mr. John E. Mears of Rothbury 

Mr. Mears, age 62, died October 3, 2009. He was born February 7, 1947,  Martins Ferry, Ohio, to James and Wilma (Briggs) Mears. On November 18, 1966, he married the former Phyllis Muckey. Always interested in electronics, he had worked at Hi Lite International until retiring in 2008. Proudly serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Mears was a member of White Lake VFW Post #3256 and had been a lifelong amateur radio afficionado and operator (Ham), call sign WA8NQO.

FAMILY: His wife, Phyllis; 1 son, John Jr. of Muskegon; 2 daughters, Paula (Robert) Zimmer and Frances (Al) Beaton, both of Muskegon; 5 beautiful granddaughters, Julie, Kristie, Hailey, Rachel & Vanessa; his mother, Wilma Mears of Whitehall; special friend, David Vanderplow; extended family in Ohio.

SERVICE: Thursday, October 8, 2009, at 2 PM, at Clock Chapel-Whitehall, with the Rev. Bruce A. Beach officiating. A MILITARY SALUTE will be extended by White Lake VFW #3256 Honor Guard, at the funeral home at the time of the service.

Mrs Lucille M. Moore, of Montague (widow of Harvey)

Mrs. Moore, age 88, died June 3, 2009. She was born April 6, 1921, in Fountain, to John and Josephine (Osesic) Budzynski. On June 7, 1941, in Freesoil, she married Harvey Moore, who preceded her in death in 2005. She had worked as a teacher aide at NBC School in Montague. was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was a member of White Lake VFW Post #3256 Auxiliary. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Osborn, a grandson, Michael Rutzen, a great-granddaughter, Loralie Rutzen, and 7 brothers, Joseph, Frank, Aloysie, Harry, Edward, Anthony and Chester Budzynksi.

Mrs. Evelyn E. Morningstar of Whitehall 

On June 8, 2010, at Christian Care Nursing Center in Muskegon, Evelyn Elaine Morningstar went to Heaven surrounded by her family. She was born January 25, 1931, in Wayland, to Clarence F. Sr. and Vera M. (Taylor) Johnson. She had lived most of her life in Whitehall and Dalton areas.

Evelyn was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Dalton and had been a teacher and helper for Awana Pee Wees. Her witness for Christ was well-known in the community. She also had rental property that she called her "Mission Field". Mrs. Morningstar loved her flower gardens, children, good movies, her birds, her church family and family dinners. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Morningstar Jr., daughter, Ilene, 2 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, her parents, several sisters and 2 brother-in-laws.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Russel (Nan) Schneider of Whitehall, Franklin Morningstar of Muskegon, Kristina (David) Jibson of Whitehall, Anson L. Morningstar of FL and Lonny J. Morningstar of Grand Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Clarence (Delores) Johnson of North Muskegon; 3 sisters, Virginia (Marvin) LaNore  of North Muskegon, Beverly (Herb) Meiner of Holland and Helen Mortenson of IL; faithful friend, Jack Johnson.

SERVICE: Friday, June 11, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Faith Baptist Church, 3593 Whitehall Rd., North Muskegon, with Rev. James A. Swierenga officiating. Interment will be made in Oakhurst Cemetery-Whitehall.

Mrs. Dorothy E. Mura "Mama" of Twin Lake (formerly of Whitehall) 

Mrs. Mura, age 77, died July 6, 2009, at her home. She was born October 20, 1931, in Union Town, Pennsylvania, to Ora and Josephine (Savidge) Rice. She had worked as a nurse aide in private home health care and for nursing homes for over 25 years. Mrs. Mura was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Andrea Mura, and a loving daughter-in-law, Jenae Mura. The Mura family would sincerely like to recognize and thank a special close friend and caregiver, Jodi Wright.

Mr. Robert J. Myers Jr. of North Muskegon 

Mr. Myers, age 70, died June 5, 2009. He was born February 2, 1939, in Grand Rapids, to Robert J. Sr. and Florence (Verseput) Myers. He attended Grand Rapids Junior College and on July 14, 1962, in Cedar Grove, WI, married the former Sharon Harmelink.

Mr. Myers had worked in sales and was Food Service Director for Montague Public Schools and Whitehall Public Schools for 11 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice, FL, and attended Community United Methodist Church in North Muskegon. Bob always had a special place in his heart for his eight grandchildren. He loved old cars, to cook, to fish and spend winters in Florida. He had a wonderful contagious sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. Mr. Myers proudly served in the United States Air Force.

FAMILY: His wife, Sharon; 3 daughters, Suzanne (Tom) DeGram of Naples, FL, Jillanne (Mike) Fricano of Grand Haven and Melissa Myers (Chad Randl) of Ithaca, NY; 8 grandchildren, Alyssa, Tessa, Sara, Robert, Sean, Lucy, Eleanor and Laney.

SERVICE: Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at Community United Methodist Church, 1614 Ruddiman Ave., North Muskegon, with Rev. Robert Lynch officiating. Interment will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery.

Mr. Roger A. Nelson of North Muskegon 

Mr. Nelson, age 84, died May 5, 2010. He was born November 22, 1925, in Montague, to Allen and Hilda (Peterson) Nelson. Mr. Nelson worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for over 40 years, retiring in 1994 as a Quality Inspector. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. On November 2, 1963, he married the former Jacqueline K. Larson. Mr. Nelson had attended both Lebanon Lutheran Church in Whitehall and First Lutheran Church in North Muskegon. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Bates.

FAMILY: His wife, Jacqueline; a daughter, Marianne (Stephen) Custer of OH; 2 sons, Jamey Nelson, and his children, Eric & Emma, of Muskegon and Brian Nelson of PA.

SERVICE: Monday, May 10, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Lebanon Lutheran Church, 1101 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall. Interment will be made in Oakhurst Cemetery-Whitehall. A MILITARY SALUTE will be extended at the cemetery by the Muskegon County Veteran Council.

Mrs. Violet F. Nelson of Whitehall 

Violet died peacefully in her sleep at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Columbus, Ohio, on February 16, 2010. She was born 85 years ago on April 12, 1924, in London, England, to Charles and Rose Lorraine. During World War II, she met the love of her life, Intelligence Officer Warren D. Nelson, and they were married on July 7, 1945, in London. As a courageous war bride, Violet said goodbye to her parents and 11 siblings (including a twin brother) and journeyed to America to join her husband on March 22, 1946, making Whitehall her beloved home town.

Violet deeply loved her family and her friends, her home and her church, the Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall. She enjoyed working in many capacities in her community, always in the area of hospitality. She had fond memories of her years working in area restaurants, Whitehall Schools, and most recently, Del Foods and Plumb's.

She will forever be remembered for her endearing British ways, her fun sense of humor, her warm hospitality centered around her delicious meals, her untiring work ethic and her God-given gift of helpfulness. She was a consummate care-giver to her husband, Warren, who died on October 13, 1985, and her mother-in-law, Edna Nelson, who passed away at 101 years of age, on November 9, 1997. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and 4 sisters, all of England. Vi's family holds many fond memories of their visits to and from her British siblings.

Violet will lovingly be remembered by her children, Lorraine (Robert) Goryl of North Muskegon, Bruce (Joanne) Nelson of Columbus, Ohio, and Delores (Mitchell) Hain of Sarasota, Florida, as well as 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Mr. Richard A. "Shorty" Nyquist, age 66, died January 23, 2010. He was born February 14, 1943, in Muskegon, to Alfred and Ethel (Johnson) Nyquist. He had attended Ferris State University, and had worked for Port City Cab and Western Union, and was a member of Fruitland Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall. Mr. Nyquist was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Nyquist, and a brother, Robert Nyquist.

FAMILY: A daughter, Jill (Kevin) VanDerZanden, and their children, Kaitlyn, Tayte & Kyrsten, all of Hart; a son, Todd (Michelle) Nyquist, and their children, Michaela & Samantha, all of Grand Rapids; his mother, Ethel Nyquist of Whitehall; 2 sisters, Ruthe (Larry) Gebhart of North Muskegon and Susan Vanderlaan of Whitehall; nieces & nephews.

Mrs. Omness, age 83, died July 10, 2009. She was born December 27, 1925, in Muskegon, to Chester T. and Lila (Johnson) Spicklemire. A graduate of Whitehall High School, she was married to Willard H. Omness, who preceded her in death in 2003. Mrs. Omness worked at Howmet Corp. for 33 years, retiring in 1989, and was a member of Lebanon Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Brockman, and a brother, Todd Spicklemire.

FAMILY: 1 son, David Omness of Tucson, AZ; 1 daughter, Wendy (Michael) Brockman of Edina, MN; 2 grandsons, Joshua Moschke and David Brockman, both of Minneapolis, MN; 3 sisters, Lila (John) Holmblade of TX, RoseMary Von Destinon of AZ and Ellen (Steve) Fisher of Saginaw.

Mrs. Lena M. Osborne of Montague 

Mrs. Osborne, age 82, died May 20, 2010. She was born June 4, 1927, in Muskegon, to Roy and Hulda (Bose) Stout and had lived in Claybanks Township all her married life. As a child, Lena made a decision for Christ at Dalton Baptist Church in North Muskegon, and is joyfully home with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She worked for Weesies Brothers, and later, graduated Valedictorian from Muskegon Community College School of Nursing and worked as an LPN at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1992. On November 28, 1947, in Muskegon, she married Stanley Osborne, who preceded her in death in 2001. Mrs. Osborne was a member of Claybanks United Methodist Church, active with Methodist Church Women and was a member of White Lake VFW Post #3256 Auxiliary. Lena donated to many causes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Hunt.

FAMILY: 1 daughter, Linda (Larry) Summey of Walker; 1 son, Terry (Deborah) Osborne of Rothbury;  2 sisters, Joyce Kroll of Montague and Glena Stout of Muskegon.

Mrs. Lucy J. Chilgren Peterson of Wilmette, IL (Summer resident of Whitehall, MI) 

Lucy Peterson, age 78, longtime resident of Winnetka, IL, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at her summer home in Whitehall. She was born August 14, 1931, in Evanston, IL to Arthur and Jean (Howell) Chilgren. A graduate of Smith College, she had worked at Harris Trust Bank prior to becoming a homemaker. On November 3, 1956, in Winnetka, she married David D. Peterson. Mrs. Peterson was a member of Christ Church of Winnetka, the Christ Church Bell Choir, the Winnetka Garden Club and the Green Meadows Garden Club.

FAMILY: Her husband, David Peterson; her children, David Jr. (Lisa) Peterson of Winnetka, Jean (Stephen) Ashmore of Kenilworth, IL and Douglas (Kim) Peterson of Winnetka; 9 grandchildren.

Mrs. Edythe, R. Peterson of Whitehall

Edythe Ruth Peterson, 88, long time resident of Whitehall , Michigan , went to be with her Lord Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Edythe was born July 8, 1921, in Muskegon to Johanna (DeReus) and Raymond Halgren. She graduated from Muskegon High School and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago , IL . She married Donald E. Peterson at Dalton Baptist Church on September 28, 1946.  Edythe enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and tending her vegetable and flower gardens.  She was active in teaching Sunday School classes at both Fruitland and Whitehall Covenant Churches as well as Dalton Baptist Church . She also participated in the ministry of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Muskegon County. Edythe was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Raymond, Robert and Russell Halgren.

She is survived by her sister Doris (Russ) Johnson of Mason, MI, brother Roger (Bev) Halgren of Whitehall, MI, and children, Darlene (Arne) Anderson of Duluth, MN, David (Becky) Peterson of Churubusco, IN, Jim (Laurie) Peterson of Whitehall, MI, Jean (Dave) Streeting of Muskegon, MI, John (Wendy) Peterson of Montague, MI, Ron Peterson of Twin Lake, MI, and Don (Kristen) Peterson of Montague, MI., 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Peter E. Picard of Muskegon

Peter E. Picard, age 52, died May 19, 2010. He was born June 4, 1957, in Shelby, to Robert J. and Bertha M. (Puffer) Picard. Mr. Picard was a proud member of the Ottawa Indian nation, had worked as a roofer for a number of years and had been attending St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and a brother, Kenneth Sharlow.

Mrs. Jean L. Potter of Whitehall (widow of Robert) 

Mrs. Potter age 81, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born March 29, 1928, in Muskegon, to Albert and Clara (Wolffis) Vriesman. On November 29, 1957, she married Robert W. Potter. A homemaker all her life, Jean and husband, Robert, owned and operated the Bonne Vista Resort on White Lake and Potter's Putter Miniature Golf course, until his passing in 1998. Jean continued to live at Bonne Vista where she enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her family. Mrs. Potter had been a member of VFW Post #8846 Auxiliary and later was a member of the Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by two sons, Rolland Van Hemert, and Alvin Van Hemert, a grandson, Rolland Van Hemert Jr., and a brother, Gordon Vriesman.

FAMILY: Step-daughter, Joy (Wayne) Fisher of Dickenson, ND, daughter, Mary Lou (Marvin) Pike of Muskegon, step-son, Wayne (Leonore) Potter of Bemidji, MN, daughter, Linda Seastrom of Whitehall and son, Robert (Jane) Potter of Grand Rapids; 13 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a daughter-in-law, Jennie Van Hemert; siblings, Grace (Otto) Hopma of Muskegon, Dick (Nell) Vriesman of Lynden, WA, and Robert (Haila) Vriesman of Grand Rapids.

Mr. Dick G  Prosch of Montague 

Mr. Dick Prosch, age 88, died October 10, 2009. Born in Logansport, Indiana, to George and Margaret (Gangloff) Prosch, he grew up in Berwyn, a Chicago suburb and married his childhood sweetheart, Charlaine. They married on December 29, 1945, after Dick returned as a Navy Lieutenant from World War II, having served in both the Pacific and Atlantic theaters, including D-Day.

Dick owned several pharmacies in the Chicago suburbs for 28 years, then founded and operated Prosch Medical Supply in Muskegon, Michigan, for another 10 years.

Dick will be best remembered for his service to the community, including Commodore of White Lake Yacht Club, Kiwanis and a variety of business area beautification projects in Chicago and Montague.

Dick and wife, Sharky (who died in 2007), were active and enthusiastic members of Montague United Methodist Church. At one of his last church services before his death, he introduced his two week old great-grandson, Gabriel, to the congregation.

Mrs. Florence E. Ramthun Of Montague 

Mrs. Ramthun, age 86, died Friday, June 5, 2009. She was born October 21, 1922, in Montague, to Fred and Anna (Fehrenbach) Kroll. On May 15, 1945, she married Ralph C. Ramthun, in Montague. During World War II, she worked at Montague Post Office, then becoming a farm wife and helpmate to her husband on their dairy farm.

Mrs. Ramthun was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, where she was active in Sunday School, Altar Guild and the LWML. She loved to garden - flowers and stones were her passion - with sewing and crocheting her hobbies, along with raising her 5 children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kroll and a sister, Elaine Jacobs.

FAMILY: Her husband, Ralph; 1 son, David (Tina) Ramthun; 4 daughters, Patricia (Wayne) Lohman, Susan (Don) Jancek, Jane (Jerry) Arends and Eileen (Paul) Schroeder; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Laura Jacobs and Mildred Hildman; a sister-in-law, Margaret Kroll; brother & sister-in-law, Marvin & Virginia Ramthun.

Mrs. Reilly, age 87, died November 16, 2009. She was born October 31, 1922, in Muskegon, to Aton and Mildred (Fors) Josephson. On November 9, 1940, she married Harold Reilly, who preceded her in death in 1978, and had been a homemaker all her life. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Reilly-Nichols, and 3 brothers & 3 sisters.

Mr. Ralph B. Ridderman of Whitehall 

Mr. Ralph Ridderman, age 72, died Friday, October 23, 2009. He was born March 29, 1937, in Detroit, to John and Anna (Meyers) Ridderman. He was married to the former Mary L. Bonter and had worked in maintenance at Sappi Fine Paper Co. until retiring in 1998. Mr. Ridderman served in the US Air Force. He was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene.

Dolores Evelyn (Zajicek) Roberts, age 92, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009. She was born March 3, 1917, in Chicago, to Frank and Katherine (Sidlo) Roberts. Dolores moved to Muskegon as a child and graduated from Muskegon High School. She worked for General Telephone Co. as a bookkeeper for 26 years until retiring. She moved to Whitehall in 1978. Dolores loved animals and was a founding member of the Muskegon County Humane Society, of which she was very proud. She was a devoted Catholic and member of St. James Catholic Church in Montague. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Helen Miller, and a brother, Robert Roberts.

Mr. Thomas L. Robinson Sr. of Whitehall 

Thomas L. Robinson, Sr., age 66, died September 7, 2009. He was born November 18, 1942, in Hart, to James and Bessie (Robinson) Thatcher. On August 27, 1999, he married the former Luanne Thorndill in Muskegon. Mr. Robinson had worked for White Lake Landco for 15 years and was also a self-employed auto mechanic. He was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Sally Robinson and Rhonda Morgan, a grandson, Dustin Robinson, 2 sisters, Edith and Brenda, and a brother, Allan.

FAMILY: His wife, Luanne; 12 children, Edith Robinson, Elita Robinson, Kaillou Robinson, Kamron Robinson, T.J. Robinson, Tommy Robinson Jr., all of Whitehall, Todd Robinson, Tessie Tovar of MO, Randy Russell of North Muskegon, and Elaine Rolfe, Electra Rolfe and Paul Jackson, all of Grand Rapids; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Walley; 2 sisters, Jo-Jo and Janice; a daughter-in-law, Janet Robinson of Whitehall; good friends, Tom Currier, Bill Tiggelman and Kevin Lentz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family, all of whom he loved dearly.

Mr. Regis F. Roth of Whitehall 

Mr. Roth, age 74, died September 3, 2009. He was born on June 1, 1935, in Canonsburg, PA, to Frank and Elizabeth (Carter) Roth. On March 30, 1957, he married the former Elizabeth "Betty" McConnell, in Pittsburgh, PA, and had lived in the White Lake area the past 42 years. He retired in 1992 as General Manager of the Titanium Ingot Plant at Howmet Corp., after 25 years of service. Mr. Roth was a member of White Lake Eagles Aerie #3214 and had proudly served in the US Army. He was preceded in death by a son, Rege Jr., in 1957.

FAMILY: His wife, Betty; 1 daughter, Patricia Kelly of Whitehall; 5 sons, Richard (Susan) Roth of PA, Donald Roth of Montague, James (Angie) Roth of IN, Timothy Roth of Whitehall and Daniel (Tarise) Roth of Montague; 22 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, James (Elva Mae) Roth of PA and Robert (Dorothy) Roth of MN.

Mr. Peter C. Rolewicz of Montague, MI (former resident of Tinley Park, IL) 

Mr. Rolewicz, age 72, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at his home in Montague, MI. He was born on August 14, 1937, in Chicago, to Harry J. and Lucille (Slomka) Rolewicz, and was a long-time resident of Tinley Park, IL, and Montague, MI. After overcoming polio as a child, Peter attended Brown University, graduating with a Bachelor Degree in Economics. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Chicago Kent College of Law. He married his wife, the former Janet West, in 1965, and started a family in 1967. While practicing law independently and was the CEO and on the Board of Directors of Royal Savings Bank, Peter's family grew through the addition of biological and adopted children, as well as being a foster parent to many babies. He retired and moved back to the family home in the White Lake area.  Mr. Rolewicz was a member of St. James Catholic Church of Montague, a member of the American Bar Association, a member of the South Chicago Bar Association and had served on the Kirby District #140 School Board. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Rolewicz, a grandson, Ethan Rolewicz, a sister, Anita George, and a brother, Harry Joseph Rolewicz II.

He is SURVIVED by his wife of 44 years, Janet (West) Rolewicz; his children, Peter C. Jr. (Elizabeth) Rolewicz, Jennifer (Nick) Iannucilli, Andrew (Kerry) Rolewicz, Lori (Mark) Newell, Jonathan (Carey) Rolewicz, David (Jeannine) Rolewicz, Harry III (Kirsten) Rolewicz, Thaddeus John Rolewicz and Casey Rolewicz; 14 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Paul (Joan) Rolewicz, Dr. Thomas (Patricia) Rolewicz and Rev. Richard Rolewicz.

Judith A. Rupar, age 66, died Monday, March 22, 2010. She was born July 12, 1943, in Muskegon, to Bernard and Irene (Kruska) Pawlowski. She earned a Bachelor degree from Aquinas College and taught school at St. Michael Catholic School in Brunswick for over 30 years, retiring in 2007. Judith was a communicant member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Muskegon. She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Rupar, her parents, Bernard & Irene Pawlowski, a brother, David Pawlowski, and two brother-in-laws, Jerry Earhart and Steve Mazurkiewicz.
