Mr. Aloysius "Al" Sabec of North Muskegon 

Mr. Aloysius "Al" Sabec, age 79, formerly of Whitehall, died June 2, 2010. He was born April 1, 1931, in Montreal, Wisconsin, to Leopold and Leocadia (Gulan) Sabec. He had worked as a miner and on July 11, 1953, he married the former Marianne O'Callahan, in Ironwood. Mrs. Sabec preceded him in death on April 14, 2009. Living in the White Lake area the past 49 years, he had worked for Campbell, Wyant & Cannon for 23 years, retiring in 1987. A member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in North Muskegon, he had been active in AA and De Colores. Al proudly served in the US Army, 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Cavalry Division, 77th Field Artillery during the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a grandson, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

FAMILY: 4 sons, Mark (Carol) Sabec of MO, Rick (Judy) Sabec of North Muskegon, Joseph Sabec of IN and Bryan (Kristen) Sabec of Lansing; 6 daughters, Noreen (Warren) Reynolds of Muskegon, Mary Terese Desrocher of NH, Jeanne Carnes of Hesperia, Beth (Steve) Parker of Muskegon, Joy (Mike) Young of Lansing and Julie Kohler of Grand Rapids; 22 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Marlene "Tootsie" Golenbski; 2 brothers, Clarence (Veronica) Sabec and Marion (Maryann) Sabec, both of WI; many nieces & nephews.

FUNERAL LITURGY: Monday, June 7, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Rd., North Muskegon, with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak presiding. Interment will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery. A Military Salute will be conducted at the cemetery by the Muskegon County Veteran Council.

ROSARY: A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, 7 PM, at Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall.

VISITING HOURS: Sunday, 5-7 PM, at Clock Funeral Home, 413 S. Mears Ave., Whitehall.

Mrs. Violet M. Schmiedeknecht of Whitehall (Widow of Ervin) 

Violet, age 98, died in her sleep Sunday, July 26, 2009.  She was born May 20, 1911, in Spring Lake, to Frank and Eliza Bliss.  She married Harold Christianson in 1930 and had two children, Harold Norman and Elaine Carol.  She married Ervin Schmiedeknecht in 1973, who preceded her in death in January 2009. 

Violet made friends wherever she went.  Besides being an avid bowler, golfer, and Pedro card player, she found much joy in cooking, flower gardening, and caring for her many beloved pets.  In addition to caring for her two children, Violet opened her heart to five foster children.  She especially enjoyed the refreshing truths she was learning by faithfully attending the meetings of the Northwest Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Violet was loved by all there!

Violet's family wishes to thank all the staff of Heartland Manor for their loving care. 

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister. 

She is survived by her two children, Elaine C. Kelley and Harold Norman Christianson; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother, Virgil (Mamie) Bliss; several dear nieces and nephews.

SERVICE: Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at Clock Chapel-Whitehall, with Mr. Michael S. Kelley officiating. Interment will be made in Laketon Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Crezens A. Scholl of Muskegon (former longtime resident of Whitehall) (widow of Vern) 

Mrs. Scholl, age 94, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at her home. She was born January 24, 1915, in Muskegon, to George and Sofia (Krause) Kaufman, where she grew up and graduated from Muskegon High School. She attended Chicago Teacher's College and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan Normal School (now, University). She was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma Sorority. She began her teaching career in Muskegon Public Schools in 1938, marrying her husband Vern Scholl, in 1941, when she moved to Whitehall. Vern preceded her in death in 1996. With a passion for reading and writing for her students, in 1950, she began a storied elementary school teaching career for Whitehall Public Schools, retiring in 1976. She was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Graichen and a brother-in-law, Ralph Graichen.

FAMILY: 1 daughter, Ann (Stan) Denman of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Vivian Bomgaars of Muskegon; brother-in-law, Ben (Pat) Scholl of Montague; nephew, Randy (Sandy) Graichen of Ypsilanti; close and dear friends, Jan & Barney Sutherland of Twin Lake, Jeri Ann Sutherland (Chris) Cooke of Traverse City,  Pete Damm and Terry Hughes, both of Montague.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 1:00 PM, at Clock Chapel-Whitehall, with Mr. Verne "Barney" Sutherland as Eulogist.

Mr. Earl E. Schneider of Whitehall 

Mr. Schneider, age 86, reached the goal of his faith on April 12, 2010. Born October 29, 1923, in White River Township, to Gustave and Marie (Jung) Schneider, he had lived in the area all his life. On January 7, 1955, he married the former Donna Deitz. Mr. Schneider worked as a truck driver for 42 years, primarily for Teledyne Continental Motors prior to retiring and was a communicant member of St. James Lutheran Church in Montague. He also worked for Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall for 20 years. Proudly serving in the US Army in the Pacific during World War II, he was a Life member of White Lake VFW Post #3256. Earl was preceded in death by a daughter, Danette, and 2 brothers, Carl and Harold.

FAMILY: His wife, Donna; 1 son, Harold (Jacki) Schneider of Grandville; 2 daughters, Pam (Dave) Clark of Ann Arbor and Amy (Gary) Koski of Clinton; grandchildren, SSg Luke (Laurel) Schneider of WA, Jonathan & Andrew Clark of Ann Arbor, and Jacob, Bethany, Abigail, Sarah & Nathaniel Koski of Clinton.

SERVICE: Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at St. James Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John W. Brooks officiating. Interment will be made in Oakhurst Cemetery-Whitehall.

Mr. Roy W. Schuitema Of Whitehall 

Mr. Schuitema, age 86, died Monday, December 14, 2009. He was born on December 17, 1922, in Muskegon, to Ralph R. and Hazel (Crispell) Schuitema. He grew up in the Blue Lake area and was married to the former Pearl Chichester, who preceded him in death in 1988. Mr. Schuitema worked as a mechanic for the City of Whitehall until retiring. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by three sons, Michael, David & Bruce, a brother, Peter Schuitema, a half-sister, Grace, and a half-brother, George.

FAMILY: 1 son, Robert Schuitema; 2 daughters, Hazel (Robert) Palmer and Linda (Jerry) Flater; 3 grandchildren, Gerold (Ariel) Flater, Samantha (John) Brauer and Tom (Lea) Palmer; 4 great-grandchildren, David & Kathleen Brauer and Lukas & Andon Palmer; 2 sisters, June Elstrodt of NY and Lucille Franklin of OH.

Mr. Zachary J. Schultz of North Muskegon 

Zachary John Schultz, age 29, died Saturday, February 20, 2010. He was born September 28, 1980, in Muskegon, to John and Kathie (Nummerdor) Schultz. A hard worker with a strong work ethic, he owned and operated Schultz Sewer & Drain Cleaning Service.  An avid hunter, fisherman and all-around outdoorsman, Zach was happiest being in and around nature.

He is survived by 1 son, Jacob Schultz; 2 step-sons, Kegan & Kaden Wesley; his mother, Kathie Schultz; a sister, Kristen Schultz; grandparents, Thomas & Artis Nummerdor and William Schultz; aunts, uncles, cousins and Jim. Zach was preceded in death by his father, John Schultz, the mother of his children, Alicia Wesley, an infant daughter, Jaden Schultz, and his grandmother, Angela Schultz.

Mr. Kenneth J. Sharlow Jr. Of  Whitehall 

Mr. Sharlow, age 46, died July 8, 2009. A member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of the Ojibwe Indians, he was born November 7, 1962, to Kenneth J. Sr. and Mary E. (Jackson) Sharlow, in Hayward, Wisconsin. On August 8, 1980, he married the former Janet Beeman, in Lakewood Club, and most recently worked in Quality Control at Shape Corp. Mr. Sharlow had a passion for gardening.

FAMILY: His wife, Janet; 1 son, Christopher "Buddha" Sharlow (girlfriend, Molly McCaleb); 2 daughters, Melissa Sharlow and Rebecca Sharlow (fiance, Francisco Schmidt)' 1 sister, Anna (Asa) Bays of Montague; 4 brothers, Robert (Lisa) Sharlow of Whitehall, Mitchell Sharlow of WI, Mark (Sandy) Picard of Muskegon and Pete Picard of Traverse City; many nieces & nephews and many grand-nieces & grandnephews.

Mr. Joshua A. Short of Lakewood Club 

Joshua A. Short, age 26, died January 27, 2010, in Grand Rapids. He was born January 21, 1984, in Fremont, the son of Marvin and Virginia (Short) Witham. On October 16, 2009, he married the former Melisa Pearo, and had worked at the Stoneheart Co. He was preceded in death by his father and grandfathers.

FAMILY:  His wife, Melisa; a step-son, Alex Doorenbos; his mother, Virginia Witham; 2 brothers, Jeffery Witham and Jeremy Witham; a sister, Jennifer Witham; grandmothers, Carol Short and Jean Young; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Mr. William A. Siedenstrang of Whitehall 

William August Siedenstrang, 76, of Whitehall, died Saturday, November 21, 2009, at his home, surrounded by family. He was born January 26, 1933, in Whitehall. He married Donna Ehlke on January 30, 1952. He worked for Whitehall Leather Co. and later, for Sealed Power Corp. until retiring. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Montague. William was preceded in death by his mother and father, a granddaughter, Teraha Landis, and a brother, Joe Siedenstrang.

He is SURVIVED by his loving wife, Donna; two sons, William (Kathleen) Siedenstrang and Jeffery Siedenstrang; four daughters, Susan (David) Crider, Marcia (Andy) Chen, Judy (Patrick) Landis and Lori (Denny) Vandervest; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Elmer Siedenstrang.

SERVICE: Tuesday, November 24, 2009, at 11:00 AM, at St. James Lutheran Church in Montague, with the Rev. John W. Brooks officiating. Interment will be made in Fruitland Township Cemetery.

Mrs. Diane L. Smith Of Montague 

Diane L. Smith, age 79, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at her home. She was born December 3, 1929, in Montague, to Robert and Leona (Bowens) Blackburn. A homemaker all her life, she was married to Robert K. Smith on August 11, 1948, in Montague. Diane had a passion for singing and had been a vocalist for the Jim Todd Starlight Brass Orchestra for many years, was a regular singer in Showboat and loved to play Set Back with her family. She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Jeffrey Smith and Robert B. "Robin" Smith, a brother, Robert, and 6 sisters, Donna, Norma, Mary Jane, Josephine, Leone and Peggy.

FAMILY: Her husband, Robert; 2 sons, Stephen (Myrna) Smith of Walkerville and Daniel (Mary Ann) Smith of Holland; 1 daughter, Leilani Smith-Schenck of Montague; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Karen (James) Goodrich and Maxine Streblow, both of Montague.

Mr. Donald J. "Don" Smith of Rothbury 

Donald J. "Don" Smith, age 66 of Rothbury passed away after his battle with cancer on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at home surrounded by his family.  Don was born on March 5, 1943 in Muskegon, MI to Clarence and Ruth Smith.  On June 7, 1969, he married Arlene Anderson at the Congregational Church in Whitehall.  Don was employed for 16 years at Funnell's Barbershop in Whitehall as a barber and then went to work for Hayes Lemmerz until his retirement in 2006.  Don was a hard, conscientious worker who earned the respect of those who worked along side him.  Don will be fondly remembered by many for loving to spend time with his family, being a people person, and an outdoor enthusiast.  Don greatly enjoyed the outdoors and spent his free time bird watching, hunting, fishing, or trapping.  When he wasn't communing with nature, he loved playing catch, cribbage, riding quad, or sitting around the campfire with his family.  Don also loved to meet new people and swap stories with old friends at his home.  He will be greatly missed by his wife, Arlene, son, Jacob (Amy) Smith, brother, Raymond (Dona) Smith, grandchildren, Hana, Jarrett and Jenna Smith, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. 

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 4:00 PM, at Rothbury Community Church, 2500 W. Winston Rd., Rothbury.

Mr. Kenneth L. "Hillbilly" Smith of Montague 

Kenneth L. "Hillbilly" Smith, age 65, died June 25, 2010. He was born January 20, 1945, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to Kenneth and Lova (Studebaker) Smith. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On July 29, 1965, in Indiana, he married the former Jeannean McKowen. Mr. Smith worked as a millwright at Howmet Corp. for over 40 years, retiring in 1999.

FAMILY: His wife, Jeannean; 4 sons, Kevin & Theresa Smith of Montague, Tim & Janelle Smith of Twin Lake, Rick Smith of Rothbury and Christopher Smith of Montague; 2 daughters, Tammy and David Lopez of North Muskegon and Kimberly and Eric Derby of Twin Lake; 15 grandchildren, Kara, Darrin, Brittney, Alley, Sierra, Katrina, Destiney, Austin Timothy, Taetum, Travis, Taylor, Mackenzie, Derron and Kaleb; 1 sister, Judy Johnson of IN; 1 brother, Frank Smith of Whitehall.

SERVICE: Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at 3:00 PM, at Clock Chapel-Whitehall, with Mr. Brian England officiating. A MILITARY SALUTE will be conducted, at the time of the service, at the funeral home.

Mr. Keith A. Struble of Montague 

Keith Alva Struble, 61 years old, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Mercy Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. His loving wife and family were with him by his side.

He was born in Fremont on February 17, 1948, to Alva & Ethel (Coburn) Struble.

He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the US Navy and the US Marine Corps.

He retired from Howmet/Alcoa in 1998.

On April 19, 1980, he married Jean (Lewandowski) Pillman in Shelby.

SURVIVORS include his wife, Jean; a son, Paul (Yvonne) Struble of Hart; a daughter, Shellynne (Brad) Blamer of Fremont; step-son, Steven Pillman (fiance, Edna Moorefield) of Ft. Wayne, IN; step-daughter, Amy (A. J.) Ule of Pittsburgh, PA; his father & step-mother, Alva & Jackie Struble of Fremont; grand-children, Kendra (Steven) LaFlame and Joesph McClernan; step-grandchildren, Bret, Ben & Brianna Blamer; a sister, Charlene (Jerry) Miller of Evart; 2 brothers, Dwayne (Emelia) Struble of Hesperia and Adrian (Ruby) Struble of Utah; special niece and her husband, Tammy (Aaron) Broughman and their daughters, Brittany and Katelyn, all of Muskegon, and many other family members and his fishing buddies at White Lake and Montague pier.

Keith enjoyed fishing, camping by the Manistee River, bow hunting, casino gambling and Lumberjack hockey games. He also enjoyed watching the wildlife in his back yard.

A very special thank you to the caring nurses and staff at Mercy Hospital, Jeff from Harbor Hospice, and two very special nurses, Cindy & Joy, at Johnson Family Center for Cancer Care.

According to Keith's wishes, there will be no visitation or services.

Mrs. Opal M. Tabor Smith of  Montague 

Mrs. Smith, age 85, died June 16, 2009. She was born September 6, 1923, in Ravenna, to Ralph and Blanche (Wall) Clary. On December 21, 1940, she married Steve Tabor, who preceded her in death in 1972. On January 18, 1975, she married William E. Smith. Mrs. Smith was co-owner with her husband, and bookkeeper of Tabor Trucking & Crane Service until retiring. Her passions, besides her family, were jigsaw puzzles, macrame and mushroom hunting. She was preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, a sister, a brother and a daughter-in-law.

FAMILY: Her husband, William; her children, Tressa (Jim) Hammond, Karol Rogers, Gary (Angela) Tabor, Louis Tabor and Shirley (Fred) Reed; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dora Miles of Maryland; nieces & nephews; special friends, Betty LaForest, Betty Smith and many others.

Mr. Ronald A. Squires of Montague 

Mr. Squires, age 75, died Monday, September 7, 2009. He was born February 23, 1934, in Hart , to Earl and Nita (Morris) Squires. On January 2, 1953, in Montague, he married the former Helen Baxter. Mr. Squires had worked at Hooker Chemical Co., then Lomac, until retiring in 2001. He served in the US Army. Mr. Squires was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Squires and a sister, Marilyn Pike.

FAMILY: His wife, Helen; a daughter, Laura (Don) Hansen of Muskegon; a grandson, Cameron Hansen; a brother, Robert (Eva) Squires of Muskegon; sister-in-laws, Marjorie Kroll of Whitehall, Betty (Bob) Tucker of TX and Shirley Reed of Ludington.

Mr. Stagner, age 63, died May 12, 2009. He was born February 6, 1946, in Shelby, to Thurlow and Dolly (Sallgren) Stagner. Mr. Stagner worked as a truck driver for 40 years, last working for Peterson Farms in Shelby. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69. Mr. Stagner was preceded in death by his mother, Dolly, and a twin brother, Ronald Stagner.

FAMILY: 1 daughter, Kimberly Stagner of OH; his father, Thurlow (Mary) Stagner of Montague; an uncle, Eugene (Jane) Stagner of Oscoda.

Mr George W. Stamm Jr.of Montague 

Mr. Stamm, age 77, died Saturday, December 12, 2009. He was born November 20, 1932, in Cadiz, Ohio, to George W. Sr. and Olive (Wolf) Stamm. He was a graduate of Ohio State University, where he attended college through a football scholarship, which he was very proud of, and earned his Bachelor of Education degree, while playing on the Ohio Buckeye football team for four years. He had owned and operated Ultra Services of America in Illinois for 35 years. On November 26, 1987, he married the former Susan Gibbs, and together they have lived in the White Lake area the past 11 years. Mr. Stamm was a member of White Lake Eagles Aerie #3214. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ross Stamm and Keith Stamm

Chloey Ann Stout, age 7, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010. She was born on December 12, 2002, in Muskegon. She was a first grader at Lakeview Elementary School in Ludington. Chloey was preceded in death by great- grandparents, William Siedenstrang, Fred Korthase,  Alexander Dresden, and Evonne & Marvin Stoudt, a great- uncle, John Dresden and a cousin, Terraha Landis.

Mr. Edward L. Stout of Lakewood Club 

Edward L. Stout, age 58, died very unexpectedly on June 28, 2010.  He was born February 16, 1952, in Muskegon, to Raymond and Rita (Lawrence) Stout. On November 11, 1972, in Muskegon, he married the former Janet Rosencrants. Mr. Stout had worked as a tin smith at Lift-Tec Inc. Well known for his love of singing, Ed & Janet, with a karaoke business, frequently conducted karaoke at Pinheads, Algot Johnson American Legion Post and White Lake VFW. An avid motorcyclist, he was a member of the American Legion Riders, ABATE and was also a member of White Lake Eagles Aerie #3214. As well as his family, Ed loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Fox Lake Rod & Gun Club.

FAMILY: His wife, Janet; 1 son, Edward (Jessica) Stout of Montague; 1 daughter, Jennifer Fitzpatrick of Twin Lake; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Rita Stout; 1 sister, Debbie (Herman) Dill of North Muskegon; 2 brothers, Mike (Ruth) Stout of North Muskegon and Joe (Rosa) Stout of White Cloud.

Coty Timothy Swanson of Lakewood Club

Coty Timothy Swanson, age 18, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009. He was born in Muskegon on July 9, 1991 to Conrad R and Sarah (Bloomberg) Swanson.

Coty had just graduated this May from Whitehall High School. Coty had a passion for many sports, the beach, his dog Memphis, his many friends and family.

Coty’s final accomplishment was being able to help save the lives of many people thru the "gift of life" program, in doing so Coty has been able to give the biggest gift of all, the "Gift of Life". His family is very proud that he will live on in others.

Mrs. Marian L. Tenbrink of Muskegon 

Marian Louise TenBrink, age 89, of Muskegon, passed away May 30, 2009. She was born January 28, 1920, in Grand Haven, to Darwin and Agnes (Shashagway) Beebe. She married Gradus TenBrink Sr. in 1937. The were married over 50 years until his death in 1988, raising their family on a farm in Claybanks Township. Mrs. TenBrink was a proud member of the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Indians and also a member of White Lake VFW Post #3256 Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna TenBrink, a granddaughter, Sherry Ward, a son-in-law, Dennis Patterson, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Mrs. TenBrink is survived by her children, Gradus Jr. "Junior" (Carol) TenBrink, James (Cheryl) TenBrink, Allen (Sandy) TenBrink, and Sandra (Fred) Ward, all of Montague, Donald (Barb) TenBrink of Grand Haven, Simon (Mary Lou) TenBrink of Spring Lake, Terry (Jane) TenBrink of Shelby, Ronald (Norma Jean) TenBrink Kevin (Holly) TenBrink and Agnes Patterson, all of Muskegon, as well as 29 grand-children and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Raymond (Pat) Beebe of Grand Haven and a sister, Harriet Beebe of Muskegon.

Mrs. Sandra K. "Sandy" Tenbrink of Montague 

Mrs. Sandy TenBrink, age 57, died Sunday, October 18, 2009, in Ann Arbor. She was born March 18, 1952, in Muskegon, to Harley and Norma (Carmean) Garvey. On March 25, 1972, in Muskegon, she married Allen TenBrink. Sandy had worked as a cook at Montague Public Schools for 25 years. An extremely loving wife, mother and grandmother, Sandy loved spending time being silly with her grandkids, loved racing, and loved helping others. She was preceded in death by her father, Harley Garvey, her in-laws, Gradus and Marion TenBrink, a brother-in-law, Dennis Patterson and a sister-in-law, Eugena Garvey.

Mr. Gordon B. Todd Of Montague 

Mr. Todd, age 60, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 27, 2009. He was born May 1, 1949, in Chicago, to James and Margaret Todd. He was married to the former Mary Englehart and had lived in the White Lake area the past 15 years. He most recently had worked as a manager at Lowe's. Mr. Todd served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a member of Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 in Whitehall and the Wood-Tazelaar DAV Post #11 in Muskegon.

FAMILY: His wife, Mary; a son, Brian Todd; a daughter, Kelly Soltys; 3 step-daughters, Jody Dietz, Stevie Lynn Glaspie and Sandra Malone; 6 grandchildren; his mother, Margaret Todd; a brother, James Todd.

Elsie May Vandeborne, age 74, of Montague, passed away November 9, 2009. She was born December 11, 1935, in Grand Blanc, to Harry and Helen (Driscoll) Scholland. She was married to John Vandeborne and had operated a Gamble's Store in Ada, Ohio, for many years. She moved to Montague and was employed by Howmet Corp. for 26 years. Elsie was active in the Montague-Whitehall Lions Club and delivered Meals on Wheels to all her special friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Mike.

Mrs. Janet Vincent of Montague (widow of George III

Janet L. Vincent, age 66, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, in Florida. Mrs. Vincent was born July 14, 1943, in Muskegon, to Victor P. and Fern E. (Warmoeskerken) Haney. On July 5, 1959, in Montague, she married George O. Vincent III. Mr. Vincent preceded her in death in 2005. Mrs. Vincent had been a homemaker most of her life and was a member of Rothbury Community Church. A son, George Vincent IV preceded her in death.

Mrs. Margaret A. "Margie" Weidner of  Whitehall 

Mrs. Weidner, age 81, died January 24, 2010. She was born March 5, 1928, in Dayton, Ohio, to Upton and Kathryn (Coleman) Garlaugh. She had attended Heidleburg University in Tifflin, Ohio, and on June 22, 1950, in Miamisburg, Ohio, married Bernard L. Weidner. As well as being a homemaker, Mrs. Weidner worked for 17 years for Muskegon Bank & Trust Co., retiring in 1986. She had been a member of Miamisburg Prasser Chapter of OES #397, and with her husband, had been a long-time member of the Friends of the Whitehall City Library, and along with her husband, spent time doing missionary work, especially getting food to those in need in Mexico.

FAMILY: Her husband, Bernard; 5 daughters, Kathryn (Jim) Boardwell of Whitehall, Arleen (Bob) O'Brien, Lora Lee (Jerry) Meyerink and Linda (Rick) Gillette, all of Grand Rapids and Geraldine Weidner of CO; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Welch, age 61, died July 31, 2009. She was born November 25, 1947, in Detroit, to Robert and Shirley (Connor) Wilson. Besides being a homemaker, she had also worked as an associate at Kentucky Fried Chicken for a number of years as well as at Archer's Soap Opera in Whitehall. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wilson.

Irene M. Wenzloff, died May 31, 2010. She was born December 16, 1921, in Montague, to Frank and Ruth (Nelson) Rager. On August 12, 1962, she married Allan W. Wenzloff in California. Formerly living in California, she had operated a Family Living Home, and returning to the White Lake area, had been a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, William Hubbard, a great-great-grandson, a great-great-granddaughter and 3 brothers, Clark Rager,    Irvin Rager and Kenneth Rager.Clark Rager

Mr. Floyd L. Wiltse of Montague 

Mr. Floyd L. Wiltse, age 77, passed away July 8, 2009. He was born June 27, 1932, in Whitehall, to Albert J. and Lucille (Letendre) Wiltse. He was a 1951 graduate of Montague High School and proudly served in the US Army, spending 18 months in Korea as a medic. On November 13, 1954, he married the former Alice Gretchen Anderson at Montague Methodist Church. He retired after 36 years of service from Sears, Roebuck & Co. Floyd enjoyed working with wood, gardening, NASCAR and visiting casinos. He was preceded indeath by 3 brothers, Marvin, Edward and Vernon Wiltse.

FAMILY:  His wife, Gretchen; sister-in-laws, Doris Wiltse of Gig Harbor, WA, Dorothy Wiltse of California and Meldeen Wiltse of Phoenix, AZ; many nieces & nephews.

Michael A. Wonn, age 63, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Mr. Wonn was born on April 16, 1947, in Crystal Lake, IL, to Edward and Helen (McGuiness) Wonn. He was a graduate of Whitehall High School and owned & operated his own lawn service. Mike proudly served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Don Rea VFW Post #8846 in North Muskegon and Algot Johnson American Legion Post #69 in Whitehall.

Mrs. Edna L. Wright (widow of Thomas) of Montague 

Mrs. Wright, age 96, died January 7, 2010, at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, in Grand Rapids, with loving family at her side. She was born June 4, 1913, in Moran, to Burton and Pearl (Alger) Landrey. On November 26, 1936, in Muskegon, she married Thomas M. Wright Jr., who preceded her in death on November 15,1998. Mrs. Wright had been a devoted wife and homemaker and was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall. She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family of Edna wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the nursing staff and resident caregivers in Assisted Living at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes, and also to Faith Hospice of Holland Home for all their care and support.

Mrs. Mary Zachariason of Whitehall (widow of Herman)

Mrs. Zachariason, age 89, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at her home. She was born October 31, 1919, in Austria, to Stephen and Josephine (Wolfel) Szilagyi. On July 26, 1947 she married Herman Zachariason, who preceded her in death in 2001. Mary worked at Plumbs for a number of years, retiring in 1981. When she wasn't outdoors working in her garden or taking care of the yard she kept herself busy reading (mysteries) or doing jigsaw puzzles.  Recently she loved taking leisurely sightseeing trips along the bike trail.  Mary loved and was comforted by her 2 "grand dogs" Lucy and Sadie.  She was preceded in death by 2 children, Mary Jo and Michael, and 2 brothers, Alfred and Steve.

FAMILY: 2 sons, David Zachariason and Thomas Zachariason, both of Whitehall; a sister, Rosa Rhoades of Gladwin; 2 sisters-in-law, Vera Szilagyi of Chicago and Marjorie Ohs of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews.

MEMORIAL GATHERING: Sunday, July 26, 2009, from 4 - 6 PM, at Clock Funeral Home in Whitehall.

Mr. Byron E. Zike of Montague

Mr. Byron Zike, age 89, died September 24, 2009. He was born July 8, 1920, in Cedar Springs, to Charles and Vista (Anderson) Zike and had lived in the White Lake area since 1955. He had attended Marion College in Marion, IL, and on April 14, 1942, in Akron, OH, he married the former E. Jane Plew. She preceded him in death in 2002. He worked as a sales associate in the area for many years. Mr. Zike served in the US Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 1 brother.

FAMILY: Best friend, Ellen Hardy; 1 daughter, Bethany (Louis) McDonald of Montague; 2 sons, Dr. Leonard (Billie June) Zike of Indianapolis, IN, and Rev. Dr. Douglas (Patsy) Zike of Meadow Vista, CA; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Wilbur (Jane) Zike of NY.

SERVICE: Private services have been held.

Mrs. Annabelle M. Zinser of Amelia Island, FL 

Annabelle Myers Zinser, age 84, died December 3, 2009, in Florida. She was born July 11, 1925, in Montague, to Carl and Bessie (Stevenson) Myers. Annabelle was a 1942 graduate of Montague High School and later earned a Master of Education degree. On November 27, 1947, she married Francis P. Zinser, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Zinser worked as an educator in the Warren-Fitgerald (MI) School System for 25 years, retiring in 1996. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Catherine Ann Zinzer and Mary Ellen Blankenhorn.

FAMILY: 1 son, Robert Zinser of Venice, CA; 4 grandsons, Byron Blankenhorn of CO, Eric Blankenhorn of OH, George Blankenhorn of OH and Robert Blankenhorn of VA; 2 great-grandchildren, Hunter Blankenhorn and Jacob Blankenhorn; 1 sister, Carol Levering of FL; 1 brother, James Myers of GA.

FUNERAL LITURGY: Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 11 AM, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 150 Church St., Lakewood Club, with the Rev. Fr. Donn P. Tufts presiding. Interment will be made in Oakgrove Cemetery, Montague.
